Jim Harman began his artistic career as a painter during the early 1960s.  Starting with landscapes, his style evolved to reflect his interest in western vistas and wildlife.

In the early 1970s, Jim began his jewelry career as a lapidary.  He developed his jewelry and design skills working for both small independent stores and large department store chains.  Jim finally put all his artistic and business skills together, opening his own jewelry store.  The focus was custom design and repair.

Jim's jewelry creations are works of art. His designs reflect his interest in nature. Jim's work has been shown at galleries in Seattle; Santa Fe; Sedona, Arizona; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Bend, Oregon; and New York.

The client is the inspiration behind Jim's custom work. "The challenge is in creating something that is personal," he says. "Custom work, by its' nature, must reflect individual taste."

In the early 1990s, Jim expanded his artistic horizons, designing silver conchos to compliment the intricately tooled leather of western show saddles.

Jim has a bachelor's degree in fine art from the University of California at Long Beach, and has completed numerous studies at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco.
